A high-level professional exchange with the Brazilian delegation will be hosted by two main players of the offshore wind industry: The German Offshore Wind Energy Foundation and the World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO).
The expert meeting in Hamburg on 26. of September 2022 will focus specifically on challenges of the Brazilian market. The program details will be published here at a later date.
The foundation, created in 2005, was the enabler of Germany's first deep water offshore wind farm “alpha ventus”. The main objective is to promote the use of wind energy at sea, and to improve research. The Foundation is a nonpartisan, multiregional, independent institution. It serves as a communication platform for political decision-makers, for business, and for research.
The WFO is promoting offshore wind energy on a global scale. The WFO is a non-profit organization, with offices in Hamburg, Tokyo, Taipei and New York. WFO’s international members represent the complete offshore wind value chain including utility companies, manufacturers, service firms as well as other non-profit organizations.
The Flyer for the Brazilian Offshore Wind Energy Delegation is published. Registration will be opened soon.

The Cuxhaven North Sea port with a collective wharf length of 270 m and a water depth of 15.8 m offers the offshore industries best conditions for production and logistics. The port has been specifically optimised for use in offshore industry processes.
Following the industrial settlement of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, Nordmark and a whole host of other distributors and service providers, the Cuxhaven offshore base has been become a show-case for port development in the offshore wind energy sector. As of 2018, the offshore industry had invested around 390 million euros into production facilities. Including public investment, the total amount invested add up to around 685 million euros.
The participants of the Offshore Delegation will visit the port of Cuxhaven and will have deep insights about the requirements on ports as well as about how to successfully establish a reliable port infrastructure for the offshore wind energy industry.
The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) will welcome the Brazilian offshore delegation in Hamburg with a high level technical exchange. Main topics will be the transformation of the regulatory framework ("open door" vs. auction procedure), spatial planning, environmental examinations, and the applicable BSH-standards.
The BSH is a higher federal authority and carries out the application procedure for offshore wind farms and the grid connections in the German Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZ) of the North and the Baltic Sea, as well as the underlying Maritime Spatial Planning and Strategic Environmental Assessments. The multi-level procedure includes the investigations of the areas designated in the Site Development Plan for the tendering procedure by the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA).
